How to install Cobblemon
Cobblemon is a free mod for Minecraft: Java Edition that adds Pokémon-style creatures and battles. It's made by Cobbled Studios. The easiest way to play it is their official modpack, which bundles the mod with the extras they recommend, including Sodium, Lithium, FerriteCore, Entity Culling and Iris.
In the Dawn Minecraft launcher it takes four steps:
- Get DawnDownload Dawn for Windows, macOS or Linux, and sign in with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition.
- Search for CobblemonOpen Mods, switch to the Modpacks tab and search for Cobblemon.
- Install the official packPick Cobblemon Official Modpack [Fabric] by Cobbled Studios and install it. Dawn creates a profile with the pack's Minecraft version and loader, which is Fabric 1.21.1 right now.
- Press PlayOpen the new Cobblemon profile and press Play.
Play Cobblemon with friends on a free server
Dawn is the official Aternos launcher, so you can create and run a free Aternos server without leaving Dawn. Every player and the server need the same Cobblemon version.
- Create the serverGo to Aternos Hosting in Dawn and press Create Aternos Server. The form asks for the server software and Minecraft version, and has a Modpack field for the packs Aternos offers.
- Match your packPick the Cobblemon pack if Aternos lists it. If it doesn't, create a Fabric server on the same Minecraft version as your profile and add Cobblemon from the server's Mods tab.
- Invite your friendsShare the server with your friends. When a Dawn player joins while it's offline, the server starts on its own.

Cobblemon on Mac and Linux
Dawn runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs and on Linux as a Flatpak or a tarball, and the steps above are the same on each. Linux support is still experimental.
Fabric or NeoForge?
Cobbled Studios publishes the official pack in a Fabric edition and a NeoForge edition, and both are on Modrinth. The Fabric edition is by far the more downloaded one, and it's the one this guide uses. Dawn can install either. Just make sure your friends and your server use the same edition.
New to modpacks in general? The modpack guide covers installing any Modrinth pack and importing .mrpack files, and the FPS mods page covers what to do on a slower PC.
