1.8.9 and modern versions
Dawn Client runs on Forge 1.8.9 and 1.12.2 and on modern Fabric versions. That means you can keep a 1.8.9 profile for old-school PvP next to a 1.21 profile for modern combat, each with its own modules and settings.
To get it, create a Modded profile and pick With Dawn. The profile creator only lists the versions Dawn Client currently supports, and NeoForge profiles run without it for now.

MCPVP in the launcher
Dawn is the official launcher of MCPVP. The launcher has an MCPVP ranked queue with kit ratings, a leaderboard and tier tests, and Minecraft opens on its own when your match is ready. Ranked access is limited for now, with public access coming soon.
Your match history and kit tiers can show up on your Dawn player profile, next to the servers you play on.

FPS
Testers saw about 27% more FPS in singleplayer and 30% more on servers with Dawn Client's optimizations on 1.21.5, 1.21.8, 1.21.10, 1.21.11 and 26.1.1. Those numbers don't cover 1.8.9.
On Fabric profiles, Dawn also adds Sodium, Lithium and four more performance mods matched to your version. The FPS mods page explains how that works and which settings still matter.
